Having spent over 25 years in various management positions with major foreign exchange corporations, in 1996, Lars Hansson, President and Owner of International Currency Express, Inc. opened Capital Foreign Exchange in Washington DC. Making his home in Los Angeles, the next obvious location was The West Coast, and in 1997, the corporation opened its main office in Beverly Hills.
While both offices ran together for a few years, a decision was made to concentrate on the booming internet, rather than retail offices and so, the Washington DC office was closed.
In 1999, International Currency Express, became one of the first companies in the United States to provide retail foreign currency exchange information online for its clients. The website was set up to provide rates of exchange, information regarding foreign currency restrictions and many other useful pieces of information for international travelers. Orders were accepted by telephone and shipped to clients nationwide.
In 2001, we had technically progressed to the point when our Foreign Money Order Engine was born. This allowed our clients to place foreign currency orders live on the internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We were now able to assist our clients by telephone, on the internet, as well as in person at our Beverly Hills retail office.
